As the Head of the Engineering & Design group, you will collaborate with the President and leadership team to drive the successful execution of all engineering and design projects, optimizing departmental policies and procedures for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This leader will champion continuous process improvement, foster a collaborative culture, and mentor team members to drive innovation and growth.
what you will do…
Leadership and Management:
● Inspire, coach, and develop a high-performing engineering and design team.
● Align team capabilities with evolving production demands.
● Strategically assign projects, set ambitious goals, and track progress to ensure timely and quality deliverables.
● Champion manufacturability in product design, adhering to stringent company standards.
● Lead pioneering projects, setting benchmarks for “first of kind” products.
Technical and Project Skills:
● Formulate and execute innovative engineering strategies to achieve company objectives.
● Uphold the highest standards of quality and precision in engineering outputs.
● Maintain comprehensive licensing, code, and reference resources for the engineering team.
● Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to build team growth and project success.
Collaboration and Problem-Solving:
● Partner and engage with shop personnel, equipment vendors, and customers to meet and exceed all technical and operational requirements.
● Oversee the integration and optimization of design tools to align seamlessly with production needs.
● Ensure design drawing accuracy and adherence to standards.
● As a leader in the organization ensure safety initiatives are upheld promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
Requirements
What you need to have…
● 5+ years of experience and proven leadership expertise in mechanical design utilizing AutoDesk, Inventor 2012, Solidworks. or similar design software.
● Extensive knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing(GD&T).
● Proven track record of producing comprehensive engineering documentation, including detailed fabrication drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM).
● Familiarity with metal machining, fabrication practices, surface finishing, and seismic design, would be a plus.
● Background with vibration and stiffness-sensitive structural product designs is a plus but not required.
● Strong communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively toward solutions.
● Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.

● Seven (7) days paid sick leave which begin accruing immediately at one (1) hour per thirty (30) hours worked; available for use in full-day increments after 90 days of employment. Maximum bank of 56 hours. You will be eligible to utilize after 90 days of employment.
● Seven paid holidays per year (New Year’s, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Friday following, and Christmas Day.) Veteran’s day is a paid holiday for those veterans who provide a DD2 14 showing an honorable discharge. You will be eligible to receive holiday pay after 30 days of employment.
