What you’ll be doing:
As a Talent Development Coach, you will be responsible for providing performance coaching as well as learning and professional development guidance for Staff, Senior Associates, and Managers. You will collaborate with firm leaders to facilitate talent development and succession planning conversations, and they will look to your expertise in building a sustainable, thriving workforce that helps us achieve firm goals, and profitable results.
You can expect to:
- Coach 50 – 65 employees on a monthly basis and set outcome-based goals for individual professional and personal development. Coaching will occur in person or by video.
- Facilitate monthly one-hour coaching meetings with internal clients regarding their professional and personal development. Coaching will focus on leveraging client strengths and talents, while also preparing them for future career interests as those opportunities become available. Facilitation of monthly meetings may include the following:
- Reinforcement of learning from supervisors who provide feedback on client projects
- Employee accountability to attain CPA or other licenses/certification, as appropriate
- Guidance on how to effectively juggle multiple projects, priorities, and project supervisors
- Work/life integration conversations
- Accountability for completion of training plans. Provide support for learning retention after course completion
- General career counseling
- Short-term and long term-goal progress
- Advancement and career track selection support
- Improvement of leadership and/or supervisory skills (if applicable)
- Guidance on day-to-day questions (how to classify time, have difficult conversations, delegation strategies, etc.)
- Application of behavioral assessment tools in the workplace
- Accountability to support client meeting expected financial results (chargeability, business development, etc.)
- Collaborate with Technical Advisors on a quarterly basis to identify and support the talent development goals of the clients you jointly support.
- Partner with Resource Management and department leaders to gather feedback on performance trends and use feedback to help guide the creation of development focus areas.
- Utilize Lattice to support internal clients and Technical Advisors.
- Support the successful transition for new hires into the culture of Perkins & Co.
- Attend 60-day/90-day/6 month/1-year new hire check-In meetings with HR
- Attend new hire welcome lunches
- Perform new hire Introductions with teams and key co-workers
- Participate in the selection and implementation of a workplace assessment tool.
- Maintain meeting notes.
- Provide upward coaching to firm leaders to enhance their management skills, as needed.
- Collaborate with staff and leaders at all levels to assist with evaluation comments, coach them on delivering performance feedback, and assist in facilitating the discussion with the employee.
- Influence the selection of participants who are ready to attend various training programs, based on their development, project management and client relationship skills.
- Ensure employees complete all technical and appropriate success skills training for their experience level (as assigned by their learning plan).
- Develop and facilitate training classes, as needed.
- Participate in firm committees, as assigned.
What you’ll need for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from a four-year College or University preferred;
- 3 -5 years of experience in coaching, training and/or developing employees
- ICF coaching certification preferred
- Experience working in public accounting (or similar professional services industry) preferred
- Demonstrated success in building and managing professional relationships
- Demonstrated ability to provide guidance in ambiguous situations
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment where improvements are continuously being made and things are changing quickly
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to provide critical feedback
- Curiosity and critical thinking skills in guiding others
- Comfort with a variety of technology systems and tools including proficiency with Microsoft Office products: Word, Outlook, Power Point, and Excel
- The ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision
- Strong interpersonal, self-management, and organization skills
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary of 85k-120k DOE. Compensation may be adjusted for those who live in areas with a higher cost of labor than Portland, OR
