Why is this role crucial for Pogust Goodhead?

We are currently litigating a substantial number of cases. Our Associates provide support to the Senior Associates and Partners to implement various legal strategies and ensure that we have day-to-day control of our documentation. This role provides the opportunity to help manage some of the high-profile cases we currently oversee.

Requirements

Role responsibilities and core competencies

To assist our litigation teams in all aspects of civil litigation and assume responsibility for some minor matters. This will mainly include:

  • Working with the litigation teams on large, complex and fast paced contentious cases, including some multi-jurisdictional cases
  • Serving as either the primary or junior associate on large mass tort and class action cases pending in the US
  • Taking lead on smaller individual cases with guidance from senior associates and partners
  • Working collaboratively with UK and Brazilian counterparts to build and litigate multijurisdictional (international) lawsuits
  • Assisting the firm in achieving its professional objectives
  • Contributing to Pogust Goodhead’s business development, including raising the firm’s profile by partaking in marketing activities and developing referral and co-counsel relationships


What you’ll bring to Pogust Goodhead

Essential

  • 3-5 years experience as a litigation attorney in a products liability, personal injury, mass tort, or medical malpractice group
  • Superior academic background, including academic transcript for those 2 or fewer years out of law school
  • Strong technical skills with experience in US civil litigation, preferably with experience in products liability, mass torts, class actions, and personal injury claims
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand the clients’ needs and an ability to adopt the best-case strategy
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy to produce work which is consistently of a high standard
  • Very strong organisational skills, file management and time/record keeping
  • Confident communicator able to work calmly under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by previous collaborative work with external and internal parties
  • A demonstrably flexible approach to work to ensure client deadlines are met and clients are communicated with efficiently
  • A willingness and eagerness to travel both domestic and abroad
  • Empathy and passion for the clients we represent

Desirable

  • Experience in pro-bono or social justice / human rights work
