Full Job Description
Peer Support Specialists perform a wide range of tasks to support clients in living their own lives and directing their own recovery and wellness process.
Under Supervision, a Peer Specialist empowers clients to explore new options, resources, feelings, relationships and supports individuals by providing hope, encouragement, support, self-determination, and connections to the community. The Peer Support Specialist acts as an advocate for the rights and needs of clients served.
CPS provide mobile services in the community throughout Chester and Montgomery County.
In partnership with individuals, assesses the participant’s hopes, strengths, accomplishments and challenges to achieving stated goals.
Exhibits a non-judgmental approach, effective listening, good eye contact and positive interactions.
In partnership with the person and their support system, develops the recovery plan to meet the participant’s needs to support him/her in becoming self-sufficient.
Assists individuals in developing natural supports to increase their success in community integration and community inclusion, including but not limited to the use of public transportation, linkage to education opportunities, employment, housing of the persons choosing, recreation, leisure, religion/ spirituality, parenting, etc.
Supports, models, and teaches recovery principles and tools. Models’ personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness via telling of their recovery story, how needs are respectfully met, and how a belief in themselves is sustained.
Requirements
Peer Specialist Certification, High School Diploma or equivalent.
A valid Pennsylvania Driver’s license with clean driving record is required.
Benefits
$16-$20 per hour
