Under the direction of the Survey Manager, leads a two-person survey crew performing primary construction stakeout by establishing location, form, boundaries, depth, height, and grades of a tract of land. Is responsible to ensure that proper surveying methods are employed and that job sites are staked accurately, and the layout meets blueprint specifications and Brubacher standards.

- Ensures that proper methods and procedures are used for the accurate layout of project sites from the initial control surveys to the final staking of curbs and monumentation.
- Is responsible for catching possible errors in layout and calculations whether they be his own, those of the instrument person, those done in the office or design error. Accuracy is of utmost importance to prevent doing work twice.
- Is usually out in front (as rod man) setting stakes. Is required from time to time to switch positions with the instrument person. Must be familiar with the set-up and operation of survey instruments and equipment.
- Assists the Survey Manager in making cut-sheets on the computer for storm, sanitary sewer and curb placement.
- Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed.
- Keeps Survey Manager informed of problems and progress. Seeks Survey Manager's advice if necessary.
- Works well under pressure to keep jobs progressing in a timely manner.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Requires at least a high school education with three to five years of experience preferably in the construction industry. Related technical school and/or licensing courses or college are a plus and may reduce the experience factor.
- Current drone pilot license preferred.
