Position Summary
The Accounting Associate will report directly to the Corporate Controller but will also have frequent interaction with all levels of the organization.
The primary responsibility for this position will be to manage the wire payment process, assist with the day-to-day accounts’ payable function, and to help the accounting department in a variety of day-to-day activities, including supporting the financial close process and various projects.
This position will require strong communication and time-management skills, as well as the ability to meet tight deadlines. In addition, the candidate must have the flexibility to juggle competing priorities.
What You Will Do:
- Manage the processing of wire payments to ensure vendors are paid promptly and information is correct.
- Assist with administering the Accounts Payable function, including the following:
- Performing daily financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data.
- Reviewing all invoices for proper documentation and approval prior to payment.
- Ensuring that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted and paid promptly.
- Verifying and investigating discrepancies by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements.
- Auditing, account coding and processing credit card bills.
- Understanding expense accounts and cost centers.
- Understanding compliance issues affecting accounts payable processes (W-9, sales tax, etc.).
- Matching invoices to checks, obtaining all signatures and distributing checks.
- Contribute to the monthly financial close including:
- Performing basic account reconciliations.
- Preparing and uploading journal entries.
- Researching and preparing schedules to support various expenses, including freight, payroll, accounts receivable, insurance, etc.
- Perform other recurring and ad hoc responsibilities, including:
- Calculating and paying sales and use taxes as well as property taxes.
- Assisting in other process improvement initiatives.
- Support the annual financial statement review process conducted by third party auditors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance and / or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of intermediate to advanced accounting experience.
- Must be proficient in Excel; experience with MAPICS and / or Infor, or other integrated accounting systems, a plus.
- Experience with intercompany accounts a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
