Full Job Description
ROGERCO, Inc. delivers advanced technology, cybersecurity, communications advisory, and multi-media services and is looking for a talented, seasoned Technical Writer/Editor to join our creative team of artists to support a Navy client. Ideal candidates have an active Secret security clearance and previous communications work experience for the federal government, preferably defense. This position is on-site in Newport, RI. Candidates must also have an active TOP SECRET security clearance and previous experience in multimedia design for the federal government. Contingent upon award of contract.
Requirements
- Research, compile, develop, write, edit, format, revise, proofread, publish, coordinate, produce, and facilitate distribution of technical and non-technical unclassified and classified publications. Typical products include: technical reports, documents, manuals, technical memoranda, technical proposals, instruction books, directives, articles, catalogs, administrative publications, newsletters, brochures, presentations, training products, and other publications associated with the customer’s mission and accomplishments.
- Review classified documents to verify limited dissemination controls, security markings and corresponding downgrading statements correlate to the specified classification level.
- Operate computer-based desktop publishing equipment to enter, modify, store, retrieve, produce, and deliver publications-related text and associated document elements.
- Update and maintain configuration management of serialized documents in the Technical Publications tracking system for Government review and approval. The contractor shall identify and maintain revision control and status of documents requiring updating, changes, or cancellation.
- Verify electronic versions of documents are not corrupted and are accessible on the technical publications file share server and digital repository.
- Provide and conduct periodic and ad hoc workshops on written and speech communications in support of the client community (this includes professional, scholarly, technical, scientific, and nonscientific communications).
- Provide written and speech communication guidance and expertise as it relates to creating and holding presentations to customers.
- Provide communication services to community with a focus on helping engineers and scientists better communicate their work to non-scientific and non-technical audiences.
- Transcribe recorded video presentations.
- Submit documents to Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC). In addition, if applicable, submit the documents to the DLA Document Services for printing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism preferred.
- 4-7 years demonstrated experience:
- in writing, editing, publishing and distribution of formal and informal technical publications, researching, analyzing, conducting interviews, and writing content in line with identified editorial themes and adhering to required style guides for publications geared toward engineering and scientific audiences.
- in providing editorial guidance to subject matter experts with complex content translated into publications, oversight and coordination of technical writing staff, and marketing and outreach to educate customers
