The Cafe Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of the Café at Senior Action in the East North Street Center. Senior Action is a non-profit organization that provides programs and services for seniors in Greenville County. Focused on providing activities and programs that support health and wellness, social enrichment, and lifelong learning, Senior Action offers a comprehensive array of services for its members. The Café provides a casual dining experience for members, as well as volunteer opportunities for members and individuals from the community.
The Cafe Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to ensure that the volunteers, who set up, serve, and clean up lunch are fully trained and supported each day. Additionally, the Coordinator will ensure a comfortable and engaging environment for the members during meal time and will manage the administrative duties for meals.
The individual in this position will be most successful if they enjoy engaging with people, have an outgoing personality, can give direction to others in a positive manner, and is flexible and organized.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and coordinate the service of the daily dining program ensuring the daily meal is served on time and is well presented.
- Creates a welcoming environment for the volunteers and coordinates the daily set up, serving, and cleanup of the meal with the volunteers.
- Schedules and supervises the volunteers for the day-to-day needs of the Café to ensure the meals are served on time and meet the food services regulations.
- Manages all administrative tasks related to the Café such a meal counts, inventory, daily meal evaluation, etc.
- Assists the Membership Staff for special programs that include lunch.
Requirements
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Two years’ experience in meal preparation and customer service, preferably in senior adult programs
- Safe Serve certificate, preferred.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Focus on customer service
- Past experience working with volunteers
- Computer literate
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of issues and concerns of senior adults
Benefits
This is a part-time position for approximately 15 hours per week during the mid-day and pays a rate of $10 per hour. Senior Action is closed for most major holidays.
