Our technology is capable of producing highly complex micro parts to micron level accuracies, creating a revolution in personalised drug delivery and medical care. Our equipment is capable of producing highly complex semiconductor parts, enabling next level efficiencies in electronics manufacturing.
The Laser Research Engineer role is a key hire for us at our Rock Hill facility. Join us and we can offer you an opportunity to work in a high-tech, specialist company working with some of the best global names in aerospace, medical, semiconductor and clean energy.
Role and responsibilities:
- Provide leadership support to expand our global technology center capabilities to assist in the creation of our next generation of products.
- Work with our business development team to execute customer application trials as they assess laser technology for their own needs.
- Lead on New Product Introduction (NPI) which entails bringing products from initial planning to a final product.
- Development of machine tools and processes using Laser Ablation, Laser Drilling, Laser Welding, and/or Electro-Discharge Machining.
- Improvement and automation of machines as the industry pushes for more advanced manufacturing.
- Provide applications engineering support for both internal and external customers.
- Provide sales support for both machine tool and parts manufacture. Including customer visits, customer calls, and demonstration of technology.
- Create documentation to support application developments and report to customers.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager.
Requirements
Our desired candidate:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Lasers or similar degree. (or equivalent experience)
- Experience with laser processing - ablation, micromachining, welding, cutting, drilling, etc.
- Applicant must be a US Citizen or Green card holder.
- Willing to travel within and outside of the United States.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Problem solving and analytical skills
