JOB SUMMARY: Process Engineer - Chemical Manufacturing

The Process Engineer will follow all work instructions, equipment operating procedures, quality standards, and safety rules/guidelines while participating in a collaborative, team environment to achieve company goals.

• Production Processes related to the Production Unit (Up to 4 Production Processes)
• Ability to interpret, to be taught, and to quickly learn Reaction Chemistry. All Production Processes start with some sort of Reaction Chemistry must have the ability to be taught and to follow basic Reaction Mechanisms as they are explained through Training.
• Ability to be taught and quickly learn common Unit Operations used in the Chemical Manufacturing Industry.
• Reaction Chemistries and Unit Operations comes with it many different types of data (Cycle Times, Quality Specifications, Unit Operations Parameters such as Temps/Pressures/Flowrates/pH, Downtime or Equipment Runtime, etc.) will possess the ability to collect, interpret, analyze, and correlate this data for continuous improvements and troubleshooting with productivity issues, quality issues, equipment issues, etc.
• Basic Knowledge and Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC)
• Ability to conduct an Investigation (Customer Complaints, Off-Spec Production, Equipment Failures, Production Process Upsets, etc.)
• Ability to Track Production Yields and Perform Mass Balances
• Ability to Correlate Final Product Quality to Production Processing Data
• Ability to Manage Small-Scale Process Improvement Projects
• Will be helping to teach/train Plant Supervisors and Operators, and help further develop or create Training Plans for these Positions. (Job Function)
• 2+ Years of Manufacturing Experience in an Engineering Role (Preferred)
• Bachelors in Chemical Engineering or similar field

• Esterification and Trans-Esterification Hydrolysis Reactions
• Oligomerization Reactions

Working experience and/or knowledge of the following Unit Operations:

• Distillation Processes
• Filtration Processes – Cloth Filter Presses, Belt Filters
• Rotary Dryers
• Spray Dryers
• Dense and Dilute Phase Pneumatic Conveying
• Drum/Belt Flakers (for Molten Product Processing)
• Rotoform/Pastillator (for Molten Product Processing)
• Sieving, Size-Reducing, and Screening Packaging Operations
