Safety + Security Officer

Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, one of the nation’s oldest and most frequented historical public attractions, proudly welcomes thousands of visitors from all around the world each year. Our esteemed Safety + Security Officer ensures the highest commitment to visitor, employee, volunteer and company property’s protection. This position adheres to Magnolia’s security measures and patrols the interior and exteriors of buildings, monitors video surveillance and ensures people and property are safe and out of harm’s way. 

What you will be doing: 

• Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence
• Detect any suspicious behavior and prevent vandalism, threats or other criminal behavior
• Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts
• Investigate people for suspicious activity or possessions with the ability to remove wrongdoers or trespassers from the premises
• Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation
• Provide assistance to people in need
• Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences 
• Continuously be visible and available to our guests and staff while on duty
• Secure all exits, doors and windows after end of operations
• Represents a team-player spirit when assigned other duties as required

Requirements

• You are trained in First Aid/BLS and self-defense
• You're an excellent communicator with proven experience as a security officer or guard and can take the lead during hectic situations or exigencies 
• You have excellent attention to detail, with exceptional written and verbal communication  skills while working with guests, staff and volunteers
• Due to the nature of the business, this position will require work on the weekends as needed. We’re mindful that in order for you to be the most effective in your role, it’s important that you balance that work with time to rest, so we offer PTO and other benefits to support you
