At Fetch, we are dedicated to providing exceptional, compassionate care to pets in our community. We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic veterinary technician to join our oncology department. As a veterinary technician in our oncology department, you will work closely with a team of experienced veterinary professionals and will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of pets diagnosed with cancer and their owners.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarian in all aspects of patient care, including but not limited to handling, restraint, and medication administration
- Obtain thorough patient history and vital signs
- Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies needed for procedures
- Monitor and document patient progress during treatment
- Perform routine diagnostic procedures including blood work, cytology and radiology
- Administer treatments, such as chemotherapy, under the guidance of veterinarians
- Assist with procedures such as ultrasound, biopsy, CT(computed tomography) and other specialized treatments
- Monitor patients during anesthetic procedures and recovery
- Provide support to pet owners facing a cancer diagnosis through educational and compassionate interactions
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- certification as a veterinary technician preferred
- Previous experience working in an oncology setting highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of veterinary procedures and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team setting
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
