Job Overview
This position reports to the Executive Vice President of Administration. The role is responsible for directing, coordinating, maintaining, and controlling an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the Credit Union. The CFO monitors Accounting department policies and procedures and recommends improvements. Functions as a member of the Senior Management Team participates in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives of the Credit Union, and serves as a resource in all aspects of accounting. Oversees budgeting, general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, risk management, asset and liability management, capital expenditures, and the investment of Credit Union assets. Provides financial strategy recommendations and identifies potential financial risks. Ensures the accurate internal and external recording and reporting of financial transactions to state and federal regulatory agencies.. Ensures that accounting activities are in compliance with established legal, regulatory, and Credit Union procedures and serves as a key point of contact for financial auditors and examiners. . Serves as the Investment Officer. Assigns, directs, and appraises accounting staff.

Role Description and Essential Duties
- Leadership: Responsible for solving problems, mediating disputes, making executive decisions aligned with best practices, and acting as an advisor and confidante to the senior management. Maintain effective lines of communication with the senior management, peers, and direct reports. Lead the Asset & Liability Management Committee in the effective balance between liquidity, interest rate, and earning risks as established by the risk appetite of the committee.
- Management: Hire, manage, and evaluate the work of direct reports. Focus internally on the division milestones, objectives, resources, products, improvements, procedures, and processes. Produce reviews, dashboards, and reports to allow the EVP of Administration to understand the organizational performance of business unit metrics in all divisional areas. Responsible for reviewing major infrastructure capital projects by managing them and completing them at a high-quality standard.
- Strategic Planning: Cultivate and maintain a detailed understanding of all aspects of the strategic planning process. Work closely with the EVP of Administration to support the organizational plans. Monitor organizational financial milestones and provide periodic updates to the EVP of Administration. Work with Vice Presidents and participate as a leader in the annual strategic planning process to reinforce the board's vision.
- Financial Performance: Monitor financial performance to assigned budgets, ensuring annual approved amounts are not exceeded. Work with assigned teams to exceed financial targets. Act as the primary organizational Loan Participation Officer allowing for buy and sell opportunities to create liquidity, immunize market risk, and/or improve yields. Act as the organizational leader in deposit, loan, and fee pricing methodology.
- Business Partnerships: Proactively engage in interdepartmental collaboration to enhance processes and new partnerships, maximizing the value delivered to our members. Maintain good external relations with vendors, examiners, auditors, and community partners.
- Risk Mitigation: Remain in good standing with various compliance requirements. Assess and mitigate risk by establishing and maintaining proper internal and quality controls across all functions. Stay informed of laws and regulations that may impact the safety/soundness and organizational vision. Provide oversight of organizational insurance and bonds. Act as the organizational Investment Officer.
- Compliance: Complies with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules and regulations, in addition to Customer Identification Program (CIP). Attends required annual BSA training and required compliance training.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience within the financial services industry, last three years in a senior or executive management position.
- Previous credit union experience is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of procedures, policies, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Strong understanding of financial industry concepts, related laws, and regulations.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal abilities.
- Must have excellent communication skills, an avid listener, and strong business writing skills.
- Ability to extract meaning from numbers and present analysis clearly and concisely to individuals with varying degrees of financial knowledge.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, self-starter, and quickly adapts to a fast-paced environment
- High integrity, detail-oriented, and ability to evaluate and mitigate risk
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
- Effective Asset & Liability Management is the primary performance measurement.
- Develop strong interdepartmental relationships.
- Effective communication with CEO, EVPs, Vice Presidents, and direct reports.
- Create customized tools for analyzing scenarios and structuring recommendations.
- Prepare and present proposals, presentations, and financial plans.
- Document organizational activities, communications, and presentations in files and systems.
- Meet or exceed organizational scorecard metrics.
- Analyze and maintain data dashboards.
- Perform research and analysis on various division-specific planning issues.
- Develop budgets and asset allocation strategies.
- Conduct and document monthly 1:1 meetings with direct reports.
- Ensure a good working relationship exists with all other departments reflected by the Internal Member Overall Satisfaction Rate in the annual survey.
