POSITION SUMMARY
The Crisis Intervention Specialist will provide short-term crisis intervention to help reduce potential harm to individuals who are in a behavioral health emergency. They are responsible for conducting risk assessment, providing emotional support, utilizing de-escalation techniques, advocacy/assistance for person in crisis, referral information, and overall safety of neighbors andstaffon campus. The CIS will maintain case notes, resident records, documents, forms, and statistical information, and performs other related duties as required. The CIS will divert individuals from unnecessary conflict by providing timely crisis intervention to help stabilize behavior , and provide referrals and linkages to short or long-term community behavioral health services as needed.
The Crisis Intervention Specialist will build a trusting relationship with neighbors; develop partnerships with behavioral health service organizations; and, serve as a liaison for the neighbor to facilitate access to services while improving the quality of services offered by CitySquare Programs. They will round regularly with staff and provide weekly updates on activity related to CitySquare.
Requirements
Education: Must have Bachelors’s degree in human services field (Master’s preferred)
Experience: Three (3) years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Experience with highly vulnerable populations, preferred. Orientation to best practices in behavioral health services for vulnerable populations.
Licenses/Certifications: CPR Certified
Additional Requirements: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance and reliable transportation. Must be able to work occasional over-time and flexible hours as requested. Must be able to read and write English, fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides short-term care to neighbors in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment.
2. Utilizes crisis and/or de-escalation intervention practices, when necessary and appropriate, with the neighbor(s) whose behavior cannot be otherwise supported without such interventions.
3. Assesses crisis situations and determines the appropriate level of intervention required
4. Serves as “expert” on restraint and seclusions including interventions, techniques and age-appropriate strategies
5. Conducts regular updates and meetings through the appropriate venues and channels
6. Observes 1:1s and assists staff with therapeutic appropriate intervention for the individual
7. Interacts with individuals in a supportive, therapeutic manner;
8. Takes the lead and provides direction with increased flexibility during crisis and emergency situations
9. Debrief with staff after interventions
10. Works with other members of a multi-disciplinary team in leading milieu activities such as current events groups, community meetings, goals groups, fitness groups, activities of daily living groups, and/or recreational activities, as appropriate to the specified patient population.
11. Notify staff on any potential patient problem for preventative interventions
12. Models appropriate techniques for the prevention and management of patient aggression to maintain safety
13. Completes comprehensive incident reports as necessitated
14. Maintain case notes and statistical information
15. Be aware of policy and procedures, emergency procedures and safety plan
16. Documents neighbor observations, following prescribed procedures and standards. Maintains confidentiality of neighobr records.
17. Participates in the development and implementation of patient treatment programs.
18. Develop and maintains established institutional policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
19. May provide liaison with neighbors, families of neighbors, or external facilities and agencies.
20. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

SALARY RANGE : $47,000- $58,000
