We are currently seeking a Full-time Faculty in Industrial Technology, HVAC who can teach courses in Industrial Technology Program including Industrial Technology core classes and specialization courses in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR). Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom, laboratory, tech-supported, or online courses and in immediate preparation for respective courses, maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught. This position is eligible for coordinator duties.
Requirements
GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Required: Associate Degree or higher in HVAC, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Industrial Technology with focus on HVACR
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES:
- Required: Universal EPA Certification
- Preferred: Valid Texas HVAC license. NATE/NCCER certifications in HVACR. SACA certification for Industry 4.0
EXPERIENCE:
- Required: Minimum of three (3) years of industry-relevant work experience.
- Preferred: Five (5) years of experience in commercial refrigeration in automated facilities. Teaching experience in higher education.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
- Teach Industrial Technology/HVACR courses
- Perform teaching activities, including classroom instruction, directing projects, grading classroom and lab assignments, and assisting with student coursework, research and internships
- Plan, develop, and present organized classroom instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines
- Develop curriculum
- Prepare syllabus i.e., determine course content that is consistent with the catalog description
- Select instructional materials (textbooks)
- Attend briefings on procedures, advising, registration, and general policy
- Participate in recruitment activities and new student orientation

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Skills in heating (gas & electric) ventilation, air conditioning and commercial refrigeration including ability to operate electrical test, refrigeration recovery, and solder/brazing equipment
- Ability to work with electricity/electrical components and current National Electrical Codes
- Skills with motors and controls
- Ability to operate vacuum systems, drills, grinders, hand tools, sheet metal, duct board, and forklift
- Ability to work with and motivate students and to demonstrate excellent teaching skills
- Ability to follow industrial safety standards
- Knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Knowledge of servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or mechanical principles
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical electrical machines and systems

Schedule: This position may be scheduled during mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings.
Work Environment: Work is primarily performed in a classroom setting
Travel Expectations: This position requires travel. Locations include any Amarillo College Campus including off-campus instructional sites (Dumas, Hereford, partner high schools, and TDCJ Unit).
