This is an exciting time to work at Amarillo College! We are seeking a Full-Time Faculty in Mathematics, for our Hereford Campus located in Hereford, TX who will be all-in on our mission and who will teach courses in remedial through college level math courses. Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom, laboratory, tech-supported, or online courses and in immediate preparation for respective courses, maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught.
This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill on an as-needed basis. Departments will refer to the pool of applications on file to fill assignments as needs arise. Applicants will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department be interested in scheduling an interview. Requirements
EDUCATION:
Required: Master’s Degree in Mathematics or Engineering or a Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in the qualifying fields: Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science Engineering or Physics.
Preferred: PhD In Mathematics or related subject.
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Mathematics instructor in post-secondary for at least two (2) years.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach mathematics by incorporating high-impact teaching practices as well as learner-centered pedagogies with an emphasis on active learning strategies.
- Develop on-line courses focused on student success.
- Develop curriculum and prepare syllabi.
- Perform teaching activities, including classroom instruction, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research and internships.
- Plan, develop and present organized classroom instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
- Teach day and/or evening courses as required.
- Develop curriculum.
- Prepare syllabus i.e., determine course content that is consistent with the catalog description.
- Select instructional materials (textbooks) when needed.
- Teach dual credit, off campus sites, branch campuses, in class or online as needed.

- Excellent oral, written and listening skills, including computer skills sufficient for email, course development and course management.

Faculty Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules (actx.edu), salary is determined by the Faculty Placement Schedule and the Faculty Salary Questionnaire.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit for extended periods; and have sufficient hand, arm and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
Work Environment: This job is located in Hereford, Texas and may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines. Schedule may include Saturdays and possible evenings as assigned.
