Full Job Description

As a Geomatics Specialist at PXGEO, you will play a critical role in the planning and implementation phase of our seismic surveys with responsibility covering all aspects of geospatial data and associated geodesy. You will use your experience with GIS to support our field crews with accurate maps of obstructions in their work areas. You will have an interest in evolving and improving the company's handling of geospatial data ranging from better presenting real time status and performance, to positioning.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of CRS transformations for the company's surveys. This includes the preparation of project geodetic specification sheets or verification against client-supplied specifications as appropriate.
  • Correct handling of client-supplied and public domain GIS datasets pertaining to obstructions and biologically sensitive sites inside the survey perimeter.
  • Supplying accurate and timely geospatial hazard data in the form of text, shape files and DTMs to our field crews before and during the survey.
  • Act as a technical reference for the Survey & Navigation department when interfacing with clients' geomatics departments.
  • Develop and maintain tools, workflows and procedures for geospatial analysis and project information management.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring of office-based staff in usage of mapping software and pre-plot generation.
  • Liaise with the company's geo support team to transform survey designs into correctly formatted pre-plot files, maps, and shape files for use offshore.
  • Maintain a centralized GIS for each project to create progress maps. You will have an interest in creating new ways to present this data to help project managers gain insight into the performance of each crew in the form of maps, dashboards, and automatically generated reports.
  • Archiving field data from completed projects in an onshore data repository.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geomatics or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in geospatial data processing and analysis.
  • Full understanding of the coordinate reference systems used in offshore survey, and expertise in transforming and projecting these.
  • Highly proficient in mainstream geospatial software and tools, such as ArcGIS and AutoCAD
  • Ability to deliver accurate results within the necessary timelines and capability to prioritize workload.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Familiarity with geophysical operations is a benefit, but not mandatory.
