The Director Security is responsible for the oversight of security and safety at multiple mining sites in North America. Working closely with local and federal law enforcement as well as in-house and contracted security, it is the responsibility of the Director Security to ensure the safety and security of all guests, employees, and job site property. This position reports to the Head of North America.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for overall physical activity security on all levels of multiple job sites security.
- Identify, develop, and maintain appropriate policies and procedures needed to align with business delivery and regulatory compliance needs.
- Supervise the day-to-day security operations of an assigned client site.
- Manage a team of security officers, site and/or shift supervisors including hiring/selection, scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, development, and support.
- Build, improve and maintain effective relationships with both client and employees.
- Handle any escalated security issues or emergency situations appropriately.
- Assure regular communication of issues or program with Client.
- Assure communication of policies, company announcements and job openings through a consistently updated READ file at each site.
- Assure that employee grievances are heard and resolved (with help from appropriate support employees, as required) and that personnel records are updated and accurate (Change of Status forms, rosters, etc.)
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- Take a proactive role in communicating with the client and meeting his needs; meet with regularly, listen to issues, provide security and technical expertise and solutions. Ensure complete customer satisfaction.
- Enforce the company’s policies in handbooks, executive memos, and present guidelines.
- Meet all contractual scheduled hours with a minimum of unbilled overtime.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration or Related Field
- 10 Years in Security Operations Management, Construction Site Security Management
- Experience with Public and Private Security Management, Construction Site Security Management, or relevant experience.
- CPR and First Responder
- Experience with U.S. securities laws, compliance, and disclosure obligations.
- Excellent legal and business judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to think creatively, function independently and work proactively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle complexity and demands with a sense of urgency, drive and passionate.
- Experience in hiring, developing, motivating, and retaining quality staff.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, complex situations, a diverse team of employees and client requirements on an ongoing basis.
