Southern Careers Institute (Austin, TX) is seeking a fulltime Junior PHP Developer to contribute to a growing middleware platform.
As the developer will be expected to produce code for diverse departments, fast turnaround and flexibility are crucial. The developer should provide effective, scalable solutions for feature requests and software repairs.
Work tasks cover all parts of the development cycle: planning, coding, testing, maintenance, debugging, and deployment. The candidate will be expected to own responsibility for their work by being prepared to explain its operation and debug as necessary.
Written and verbal communication skills are essential for the position. The hire will collaborate with other members of the Engineering department by sharing ideas and possible implementations. They will also be expected to communicate effectively with administrative partners at all levels of the organization. Writing system manuals with step-based screenshots may additionally be requested.
Requirements
- MUST live in and be legally authorized to work in the United States. We are currently not able to hire from the following states: Massachusetts, WA State, WA D.C., Connecticut, Oregon, California and New York
- Must have knowledge of MySQL, PHP, HTML, JavaScript / JQuery, JSON, Symfony, and REST-based APIs. While not required, familiarity with Dart and NoSQL will also be considered. Familiarity with Slack, Jira, GitHub is required.
- The position is remote with optional office presence. Dress is casual.
