Full Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and systematic Life Cycle Analyst/Specialist Intern to join our team for the summer. The successful candidate will lead in fulfilling the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) components of various projects, with a primary focus on mining applications of our Electrical Reservoir Stimulation (ERS) technology. This role is pivotal in supporting our company's commitment to sustainable practices and responsible resource extraction. Opportunities to work on projects within our geothermal and geologic hydrogen sectors may also arise.
Tasks May Include:
● Conduct detailed LCA studies (e.g., cradle-to-gate and cradle-to-grave) on mining projects to evaluate environmental impacts across the entire life cycle, from extraction to post-use disposal.
● Perform ESG analysis to assess the social and governance factors, ensuring compliance with industry standards and contributing to sustainability reports.
● Quantify emissions and identify mitigation strategies to minimize environmental footprint.
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, geology, and business/economics, to gather data and insights pertaining to the mining, geothermal energy, and geologic hydrogen industries.
● Support in the development and implementation of sustainability strategies and practices.
● Assist in preparing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, showcasing findings and recommendations.
● Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and methodologies in life cycle analysis and sustainability.
● Develop workflows for areas of interest and risk assessment.
Requirements
● Currently enrolled in the 4th year of a bachelor’s program or higher in Engineering, Geology, Business/Economics, or a related field, with a strong academic record.
● Demonstrated experience in life cycle analysis, emissions quantification, and ESG analysis.
● Knowledge of the energy sector, particularly in mining, geothermal, and geologic hydrogen industries.
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex data sets with a keen attention to detail.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting findings clearly and effectively.
● Proficient in LCA and ESG analytical tools and software.
● Familiar with Tool for Reduction and Assessment of Chemicals and Other Environmental Impacts (TRACI)
● Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team with the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, geophysicists, and other professionals to apply LCA and ESG insights across industries.
● Commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
● Proficiency in MS office suite required.
