Purpose of the Job:
The Logistics Procurement Buyer is a member of the procurement team focused on logistics within the organization's operations in North America. The responsibilities entail procuring logistics services and equipment to meet the business needs across various locations in the US, as well as imports into North America. This encompasses various modes of transportation, such as rail, truck, barge, and sea vessel.
Accountabilities:
• This role, like all positions within the chemical company's US organization, requires adherence to the company’s' 20 Principles of Process & Behavioral Safety and Life-Saving rules.
• Full accountability for the purchasing process of selected logistical services, equipment, and technologies, including strategy, supplier selection, tendering, contracts, and execution.
• Support the Logistics Procurement Manager in negotiations to deliver logistics solutions aligning with business objectives efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Ensure contracts are implemented to high safety and customer satisfaction standards with competitive costs.
• Monitor vendor supply quality and performance with support from supply chain officers.
• Enter and maintain negotiated freight rates in SAP.
• Provide expert procurement-related risk advice and market knowledge to the wider organization.
• Network with the global company’s procurement organization to maximize volume leverage.
• Ensure accurate and timely management of SAP master data and agreements, producing complete and timely Purchase Orders (POs).
• Onboard and vet new vendors for onsite or offsite work/services.
Requirements
• A comprehensive grasp of legal principles relevant to contract negotiation, including seller indemnifications, liability limitations, warranties, guarantees (both duration and monetary value), and legal remedies.
• Commercial acumen with a good understanding of contract cost drivers.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Understanding of logistics, technical standards, regulations, and chemical manufacturing processes.
• Experience in managing procurement responsibilities for Logistical Services: rail, truck, barge, sea vessel.
• Knowledge of contract law and ABC regulations, as well as business accounting principles.
• Proficiency in MS Office and SAP tools.
