The primary responsibility of this position is to help drive awareness and visibility of the Valero Texas Open and its brand through the creation and management of marketing, social media and promotional platforms. Based in San Antonio, Texas, this position will also be involved in community relations events pertaining to the Valero Texas Open. Additionally, this position may assist with out-of-market Wasserman Events’ projects, as needed.
Responsibilities:
Assist & support the Director of Marketing & Community Relations, and collaborate with other Wasserman Events staff and clients, on tasks including, but not limited to:
Graphic Design & Content Creation
- Assist in the development and execution of an overall marketing, advertising, and promotions strategy annually for the Valero Texas Open
- Manage current and future social media platforms including planning, content creation, and execution (i.e. Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) for the Valero Texas Open and Champions fore Charity channels
- Generate brand and engagement content for social media platforms via digital ads and video content
- Fulfill contracted third-party & sponsor-related social media posts (paid & organic)
- Assist with paid social and digital advertising elements related and pertaining to Ticketmaster or other ticketing platform(s)
- Assist with designing content & writing copy for advertising and sales collateral for the Valero Texas Open, Champions fore Charity, Valero Texas Collegiate, and other ancillary events and initiatives
- Assist with third-party vendors pertaining to video content and photography
- Contribute content for the post-tournament Documentation of Performance Report(s)
Marketing & Promotions
- Coordinate and attend local events to promote the Valero Texas Open initiatives
- Manage volunteers for Street Team committee as needed
- Assist with purchasing and oversee promotional swag items in an effort to promote the tournament and tournament-related events
- Assist with designing and creating collateral materials (digital, print, and video content)
- Ability to create and edit video content as needed
Champions fore Charity
- Assist as needed for ancillary events and promotions of the fundraising program
- Interact with participating charities, donors, and program sponsors & ambassadors
Special Events
- Assist with various tournament related events as needed
- Support other out-of-market Wasserman Events initiatives as needed
Requirements
- Must be willing to move to or currently reside in/near San Antonio, Texas
- Must be able to commit fully to the Valero Texas Open, including long workdays and extended periods without a day off, especially in the four weeks prior to and the week of the Valero
Texas Open. This includes working evenings, weekends and holidays as required throughout the period of employment - Be self-motivated and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced work environment while exercising organizational, analytical and time management skills.
- Have strong interpersonal skills that complement a proactive, solution driven, team-oriented work ethic
- Have a strong ability to foster relationships with a wide variety of individuals from entry level to C-level executives.
- Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business, Communications, Marketing or other related fields
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Spanish is a plus
- Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. as needed
- Have valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to commute to main offices,
TPC San Antonio temporary offices and to offsite locations - Be proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint), internet software, various social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn); and Adobe software including Photoshop, InDesign and video editing software
- Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills
- Adaptable and comfortable with new and emerging technologies
- Ability to speak in front of large groups is a plus
