Full Job Description
Headworks is currently seeking an entry-level Mechanical Design Engineer. The ideal candidate should be familiar with 3D design and detailing using SolidWorks. In this position, you will be working alongside our product development and process design team, collaborating with various departments such as sales, manufacturing, procurement, and marketing in order to deliver a product that is both innovative and of high quality. This role will include working on sheet metal design, weldments, and piping design. Any experience with instrumentation, aeration systems, and power transmission systems would be a definite advantage.
Essential Functions
- Designs and details wastewater treatment equipment using the information supplied by senior engineers, sales team, and customer specifications.
- Generates Bills of Material (BOMs) and interfaces with purchasing in the procurement of designed components.
- Prepares General Arrangements (GAs) for incorporating in proposals and bids.
- Prepares Fabrication Drawings for Mechanical equipment for waste water treatment plants under the oversight of Senior Design Engineers.
- Assists with processes, tools, and systems for project estimating to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Communicates effectively and appropriately externally with clients and internally with project resources and stakeholders, as required.
- Ensures consistent application of company procedures and design methodology, including proper filing of all required project documents.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- 0 to 2 years experience in developing 3D models, creating manufacturing drawings and generating BOM.
- 0 to 2 years experience in sheet metal, weldments, piping design in SolidWorks.
- In depth familiarity with SolidWorks. Prefer CSWP candidates.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar design tools is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
- Knowledge of advanced wastewater treatment and water treatment systems for biological process based industries like food processing, beverage, meat, pulp & paper, etc. is an added advantage.
- Preferred experience with SolidWorks automation, particularly parametric modeling.
