Full Job Description
Responsible for supporting organizational communications and media by generating content for print media, digital publications and collateral materials for Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch. Assists in the design and implementation of an annual public relations and media plan to extend the Organizational brand. Assists in managing special events in support of organizational initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
Essential Duties:
1. Write and edit Marketing and Communication materials, including solicitation and acknowledgement letters, brochures, annual reports, blog posts, newsletters, impact stories, email campaigns, and other creative cases for support.
2. Create, schedule, write and post elements for social media platforms.
3. Create, design, and edit graphics, brochures and publication layouts.
4. Engage with Marketing and Communication team to inform and produce content, ensuring a consistent organizational voice across materials.
5. Support Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch events by developing compelling concepts and language across deliverables, including messaging, taglines, website copy, printed programs, etc.
6. Coordinate with other departments to transform copy into talking points, print materials or social media content that supports efforts of Boys Ranch.
7. Assists with updating website.
8. Assists with special-event planning.
9. Exhibits appropriate interactions with residents.
10. Assists in creation of content for promotion of the Boys Ranch Rodeo and other special events and/or fundraising activities.
11. Provides creative and design content for other departments as needed.
12. Attends Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch activities and events to maintain familiarity with organizational activities and programs.
13. Assists with developing material for the organizational website.
14. Supports all Marketing and Communications activities and initiatives.
Job Specifications:
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field required.
2. A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field required, preferably in a not-for-profit environment, is preferred.
3. Proficiency in Desktop Publishing and Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.) and Adobe Suite is required.
4. Have a keen attention to detail and ability to clearly articulate the organization’s brand and vision.
5. Demonstrable command of the written word, storytelling ability and excellent overall communication skills.
6. Time management skills, with the ability to set a timeline and work backwards to achieve goals and incorporate a variety of perspectives.
7. Strong project management skills – with ability to move editorial products across teams.
8. Ability to conduct interviews and translate into messages that resonate.
9. Experience in previous writing, copy editing or editorial role, with an understanding of how content performs and is consumed through digital channels.
10. Knowledge of AP style.
11. Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, prolonged sitting/standing.
12. Proficiency with general office equipment required.
13. Must possess exceptional time management and attention to detail.
14. Must be at least 21 years of age.
15. Must possess valid driver's license.
16. Must be available for travel as needed.
