Full Job Description
The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that all the products packaged in the plant are safe to consume and have the highest standards of quality, and for making sure that each bag of sugar packaged fulfills the customer’s specifications. The Quality Manager is responsible for the monitoring of the Critical Control Points in the facility, and for stopping the line and following the established corrective actions when any deviation from the CCPs is detected. The following is a list of responsibilities and expectations assigned to the position.
Personal hygiene and safety are paramount. Sanitation guidelines and GMPs must be followed. This includes but it is not limited to wearing clean clothes, long pants and closed toe /steel toe shoes, washing and sanitizing hands periodically, no jewelry, wearing hairnet and/or beard net as applicable in the designated areas, and not eating or drinking outside of designated areas.
Follow the Safety guidelines for working diligently to help prevent any accidents in the facility, and to prevent damage to the product.
Requirements
The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager ensures compliance with all good manufacturing procedures, works with key personnel in the facility on quality assurance issues, is responsible for ensuring compliance of all regulatory requirements, product quality, HACCP, GMP, SQF programs, hold and release program, and self-inspection program.
Facilitate as the SQF Practitioner
Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF System.
Audit Facility Good Manufacturing Practices compliance (team member).
Ensure that FDA/Organic requirements are documented and maintained to ensure compliance.
Hire, train, and manage a team of Quality Assurance personnel to ensure the quality of the product and SQF guidelines are followed.
Proactively drives quality and compliance initiatives based on defined performance metrics, Operations, and leadership feedback.
Ensures that reports required by the client are produced, data is accurate, and delivered on time. Audit Facility Good Manufacturing Practices compliance (team member).
Regularly meet and communicate with all functional groups within the Manufacturing Operations to analyze data from various reports, determine trends, identify root cause and implement corrective actions for process improvement.
Meet with customers regularly to discuss any compliance issues, regulations, and client requirements.
Responsible for annual review of documents in the management system.
Monitor to ensure that the guidelines and policies are being carried out within the facility.
Other duties may be assigned by the manager.
The Quality Assurance Manager and Plant Manager are responsible for covering the responsibilities of this position in case of the absence of the primary person.
Must be able to stand, bend/stoop, and lift up to 50lbs.
Must have 5 years food/beverage experience.
