This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are accepting applications for our Part-Time Safety Trainer for various safety classes who will will play a critical role in helping students develop the skills they need to succeed in safety training. Responsibilities include teaching both on and off-campus and assisting students in learning industry regulations, safety techniques, and safety procedures.
This position is filled on an as needed basis, contingent upon institutional needs.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Required: Certification of field on particular training.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Required: Three (3) years of experience in area of training
Preferred: Five (5) years of experience in area of training.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, develop and present organized instruction and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
- Train students in the basic operations of required safety trainings.
- Perform equipment inspections and site evaluations in preparation for classroom and hands-on training.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, orderliness and safe practices for classroom.
- Participate in department, division and college meetings when necessary.
- Produce or write training manuals to cover classroom and safety training exercises.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to conduct the highest quality classroom and hands-on instruction for the entirety of an assigned class.
- Ability to Communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism in communication, work-style, and dress.
- Ability to secure and safeguard all property, equipment, and training material including credit cards (if applicable) issued by Amarillo College.
- Comply with all college, state and local policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Demonstrate competence in teaching/training and related technologies.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic.
- Ensure effective two-way communication at all levels.
- Ability to comply with all college, state and local policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Participate in professional learning and development as required under state or local contractual agreements and/or Amarillo College.
- Ability to handle stress and remain calm.
- Ability to work independently and as team member.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations concerning operations of all motor vehicles especially truck and trailer laws
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Working Environment: This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines. Classroom location assignment may vary.
Salary: Salary is determined by the class taught.
