What You Will Be Doing:
We are looking for a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to take a leading role in building and managing chemical laboratories. In this role, you assist with supporting other process engineers and help manage chemical labs. A deep understanding of both chemical processes and mechanical systems pertaining to chemical fixed-bed reactors and catalysts are desired for this role. Please note that this role requires a 3 to 6 month stay in Brooklyn before working in Houston. Also, 50% travel to Brooklyn, Kingston, NY and Norway is expected. Travel is required.
- Manage laboratory inventory gas cylinders and process equipment.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance for process and mechanical testing activities.
- Perform direct testing as needed, including process control, data collection & analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to product test engineers and technicians conducting product validation and verification testing.
- Ensure proper workplace safety during product testing and pilot plant operations.
- Design and document detailed test plans, test cases, and test procedures to ensure comprehensive coverage of product functionality, performance, and reliability.
- Solve complex technical problems, including conducting failure analysis, revising test procedures, and interfacing with design engineers to propose design changes or recommend countermeasures to ensure performance meets design specifications.
- Execute test cases and analyze test results to identify product defects, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of test findings.
- Evaluate and procure appropriate test equipment and tools required for testing activities.
- Maintain and calibrate test equipment as needed.
Requirements
The minimum requirements we seek:
- BS in chemical engineering and a minimum of 8 years of experience in chemical pilot plant operations, or laboratory operations, preferably in a senior or lead role.
- 5 to 7 years of experience working as a process engineer for EPC companies.
- Experience working with simulation software like ASPEN or HYSYS.
- Experience creating and reading P&IDs along with other technical documentation.
- Proficient in test methodologies (MOC and PSSR, instrument calibration, failure analysis) test planning, and test execution.
- Proficient in commissioning and installing new test equipment with knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts and terminology.
- Ability to analyze complex technical problems, troubleshoot issues, and provide innovative solutions.
- Prior experience working with fixed-bed reforming reactors and fuel cells is preferred.
- Experience utilizing MATLAB and CANape is preferred.
The salary pay range for this position is $140,440 to $150,000 Exact compensation may vary based on skills, job experience and physical location.
