This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Supplemental Instructor for Automotive Collision who will be all-in on our mission and who will perform duties primarily related to the instruction of courses in assigned subject matter areas. Leveraging a strong background in the automotive repair industry, this instructor brings real-world insights to the classroom. Proficient in teaching repair techniques, refinishing processes, and industry-standard safety protocols.
Requirements
EDUCATION
Required: High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred: Associate degree in Applied Science in Auto Collision Repair.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Three (3) years of experience in automotive collision repair.
Preferred: Teaching experience.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Preferred: I-CAR or industry-standard certification.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide supplemental classroom instruction for automotive collision.
- Perform effective teaching activities, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research and internships.
- Ensure effective two-way communication at all levels of responsibility.
- Plan, develop and present organized instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
- Attend briefings on procedures, advising, registration, and general policy.
- Complete appropriate administrative paperwork and performance evaluations in a timely manner.
- Participate in department, division and college meetings as assigned or required.
- Assume responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environment and in the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.
- Participate in and complete performance assessments/evaluations as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of subject matter and related and/or relevant topics and issues in the discipline
- Ability to demonstrate excellent teaching skills and motivate students.
- Ability to maintain an established schedule, which may include evenings and multiple campus locations.
- Ability to work under stress.
- Ability to work well with a team or independently.
- Excellent oral, written and listening skills, including computer skills sufficient for email, course development and course management.
- Ability to understand and apply learner-centered and high impact instructional methods.
- Demonstrate commitment to student success, innovation, collaboration and instructional quality.
- Demonstrate and maintain competence in the use of instructional technology.

Salary: Amarillo College Pay Grades, Pay grade 10 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
