Service First Mortgage is currently hiring for an Underwriting Team Lead

The Underwriting Team Lead assists the Underwriting team with technical questions and guideline interpretation to ensure the department is effective in meeting their goals.

 

Duties include:

· Help answer questions from the Underwriting team in matters of guideline interpretation and document/condition acceptability.

· Uphold the philosophy of Guideline Based Lending.

· Manage the pipeline to help ensure that SLA’s are consistently maintained.

· Assist in reviewing work of Associate Underwriters for coaching and development opportunities.

· Assist as needed with initial credit decisions and condition clearing.

· Issue Mortgage Insurance for files requiring MI as needed.

· Update Automated Underwriting System for loans as needed.

· Assist with the initial review of audit findings as requested.

· Fulfill training requirements as defined by the Underwriting Manager.

· Any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Underwriting Manager.

Skills:

· Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with various audiences, including senior leadership.

· Strong planning and organization skills, to include attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload with minimal supervision.

· Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work well under strict time lines and to react with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround.

· Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently.

· Ability to maintain effective communication and working relationships with management, co-workers and corresponding departments.

·Customer service orientation and creative thinking to find appropriate/alternative programs and solutions for unique situations.

· High level of integrity, ethics, discretion and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information.

Requirements

·        Bachelor’s degree is preferred

·        Minimum of 5 years previous mortgage underwriting experience

·        HUD DE, LAPP/SAR and/or USDA experience

·        Strong working knowledge of Conventional and FHA guidelines
