Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vice President, Engineering to join our team at BLEW. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing various engineering projects, ensuring accuracy and quality from conception to completion. You will collaborate with a team of professionals, including other Professional Engineers, Assistant Engineers and Civil Design Technicians, and support staff to achieve project goals and deliver exceptional results. Responsibilities include:
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering projects, including grading, drainage, water retention, retaining walls, sewer/waste water, road/transportation, site layout, and utilities.
- Evaluate surveys, field notes, maps, and other materials to identify project constraints and determine the best approach for successful completion.
- Calculate drainage requirements, storm sewer designs, hydraulic systems, detention ponds, and water quality measures.
- Lead a design team in reviewing and revising plans and redlines.
- Research and review codes, ordinances, technical reports, and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Communicate effectively with municipal, state, and county entities to meet all project requirements.
- Collaborate with project coordinators, design staff, and other project engineers to provide updates, address challenges, and implement plan revisions.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with applicable codes, practices, standards, and specifications.
- Interact regularly with Project Coordinators to ensure project progress and effective client communication.
- Interpret client needs and requirements, and represent them in the field.
- Perform overall quality control of work, including budget, schedule, and personnel performance.
- Mentor and assign responsibilities to project team members, while fostering collaboration with stakeholders.
- Manage and maintain construction projects of various scales in a safe, timely, and sustainable manner.
- Conduct on-site investigations, analyze data, and assess risks, materials, and costs.
- Attend planning meetings as required.
Requirements
- Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, and regulatory approvals.
- Sound knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics to prepare comprehensive drainage reports.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with professionals at all levels, including colleagues and clients.
- Demonstrated ability to meet project deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong project management skills and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Civil 3D or CAD design, preferably in a similar role.
- Knowledge of HEC-RAS is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Proven working experience as a Project Engineer.
- Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards.
- Ability to effectively work on multiple discipline projects.
- Strong decision-making and leadership abilities.
- Current civil professional engineer license (PE).
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant field.
