Encore Communications, a full-service marketing agency, is looking for a Web Developer to join our team. Encore's web team serves a vital technical role in our organization, responsible for creating modern, unique, and attractive marketing websites. The ideal candidate for this position is a hands-on professional with strong knowledge of front-end development and content management platforms. Most importantly, the ideal candidate will have an ability to translate our clients' business needs into functions that will expand their website’s influence in their industry. The Web Developer will aid our team in the architecting, creation, and maintenance of web sites and applications for our ever-growing list of customers.
Requirements
Required Experience
The successful candidate will have extensive experience:
• Completing the entire web development process independently (design, development and deployment).
• Developing through a waterfall methodology.
• Interpreting provided design mockup into visual or interactive designs using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Creating, editing or modifying templates for a CMS or web development framework other than WordPress.
• Programming interaction with JavaScript and/or a library such React, Vue, or Svelte.
• Building for browser & device compatibility.
• Testing cross-browser, cross-platform, and/or cross-device compatibility for inconsistencies.
• Testing for compliance to specified standards such as accessibility standards in the clients’ region or domain.
• Interfacing with back-end technologies and systems.
Desired Experience
• Applying methods for progressive enhancement.
• Applying methods to ensure accessibility.
• Applying file compression techniques for improving speed.
• Maintaining version control with Git.
• Conducting observational user testing and/or reviewing designs against usability heuristics.
Required Skills
Strong understanding and knowledge of web development markup and languages HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
HTML
• Strong knowledge of HTML5 syntax.
• Knowledge of the semantic meaning of all HTML elements, including media and responsive images.
• Familiarity with the semantic markup for display of lists, tabular data, forms, articles, etc.
• Sufficient knowledge to hand-code markup.
CSS
• Specifying different CSS for various media, devices and displays.
• Best practices in CSS file organization and structure.
• How to define, combine and group CSS selectors for HTML elements, ID, classes, pseudo classes, child or sibling.
• Knowledge of CSS specificity
• Syntax of CSS declarations, properties and attributes.
• CSS box model and methods for CSS positioning, absolute and relative.
• Proficiency with CSS Custom Properties (variables).
• Familiarity with CSS preprocessors such as Sass and LESS.
• Familiarity with the use of CSS modules for file splitting and organization.
JavaScript
• Knowledge of the operators, variables, datatypes, objects, properties and methods.
• Familiarity with control structures such as objects, functions, conditional statements, arrays, loops and expressions.
• Forms and regular expression validation and submitting data.
• Knowledge of how to apply logical operators and conditional statements.
• Knowledge of the DOM HTML objects and their properties.
• Knowledge of ES5/ES6 syntax.
• Familiarity with JS build tools such as rollup.js, ESbuild, Vite, and Webpack.
PHP
• Modern PHP knowledge.
• Object Oriented Programming.
Preferred Skills
• Strong Laravel and/or Drupal Framework and CMS knowledge.
• Systematic problem solving skills.
• Linux server management.
• MySQL database queries and management.
• Node.js development.
• Decoupled SPA applications.
• Web application deployment, CI/CD, DevOps.
