This is a fully remote role for candidates who are based outside of the New York Metropolitan area. For those located in the area, we encourage you to consider our hybrid work arrangement (1-2 days a week in our NYC office). Energy storage is the key to unlocking a future where our world is powered by renewable resources. At Convergent Energy and Power, our mission is to make the electrical grid cleaner, more reliable, and less expensive by leveraging state-of-the-art energy storage and distributed generation technologies.


The Corporate Controller will work closely with the CFO to spearhead the growth and continued operational efficiency of our Accounting department. Implement policies and procedures to identify, resolve, and document accounting issues and manage the accounting and tax operations of the company. The Controller will also manage the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, the maintenance of a financial system of records, the development of a comprehensive set of internal controls, the documentation of processes, and the coordination of corporate and project audits, among other tasks.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the EMT to enhance the decision-making process across the company’s different functions.
  • Ensure adequate controls and procedures are in place to safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording and reporting of all transactions.
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Implement and maintain accounting systems, procedures, accounting policies and internal controls across various subsidiaries of the Company.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting functions including month-end close, quarter-end close, cash forecasting, cash applications, billing and collections.
  • Coordinate all financial reporting and audit activities, including monthly and quarterly close, preparation of annual financial statements; manage timely filing of all required statutory filings.
  • Manage and coordinate various federal and state tax returns with internal team, and outside tax preparers, both US and Canadian.
  • Manage and forecast corporate and project company tax positions throughout the year
  • Identify and effectively communicate potential process improvements.
  • When required, manage the SOX compliance program including internal controls testing, process and controls implementation.
  • Oversee and manage accounting team. Hire employees and train them to accomplish accounting tasks.
  • Provide strategic insight and guidance alongside the senior management team as the company analyzes new markets, financing options, customer contract structures, etc.
  • Effectively manage individuals to ensure cohesive collaboration and achievement of organizational goals.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • Active CPA designation. 
  • At least 10 -15 years of proven experience as a Corporate Controller or in a similar financial leadership role. 
  • Experience within renewable energy sector. 
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements. 
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations. 
  • Experience in managing external audits and ensuring compliance. 
  • Proficient in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence. 

Preferred 

  • Experience with Sage 300 and adjacent platforms/API’s

Base Salary Range: $235,000- $250,000; Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.
