Our initial results from dozens of clients diagnosed with IBD are incredible and humbling: significant reduction in symptoms and disease activity, inflammatory markers down, life-long friendships formed, and lives changed for the better. Our goal is to radically improve outcomes for both IBD and other chronic health conditions worldwide.
Role Overview
We are seeking a creative, smart, and hardworking individual to join our team part-time in our Creative, Science, and Research Content Development Contract Position. In this position, you will work closely with our content our team in creating aesthetically attractive scientific content related to chronic health conditions to empower people around the world to understand their condition and achieve optimal health and well-being. Your primary role will be developing and producing content for Systema Core, our foundational curriculum, and Systema IBD for our Experiential Learning Platform which includes a written science- and evidence-based textbook, interactive modules, slides, and video content.
Responsibilities
- Conduct scholarly research and literature reviews with academic databases like PubMed
- Incorporate appropriately cited facts into Systema Core Curriculum
- Use creative skills and artistic talent to create attractive slide presentations
- Collaborate with the Systema Health team to build, design, and develop the curriculum
- Generate additional educational tools and resources, such as interactive handouts or videos, for Systema’s online Experiential Learning Platform
Requirements
An ideal candidate demonstrates a blended skill set of strong graphic design skills, understanding of human biology, creativity, written communication, and deep empathy and care for others. In addition, they possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in biology, physiology, neuroscience, nutrition, health sciences, or other related fields OR relevant science writing experience in biology, health sciences, or related fields
- Experience with reading & critically analyzing scientific literature, conducting literature reviews, and citing sources using a citation software tool such as EndNote or Zotero
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator or with developing scientific diagrams in other graphic design software
- Eye for design and user experience
- Fluency in Google word processing, and slides software and collaboration tools
- Passion for health science topics (e.g. digestive health, the microbiome, the immune system, neuroscience, psychology, nutrition)
- An ability to work independently and keep up with a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Growth mindset and an eagerness to learn and improve on skills
Bonus points if you have:
- Personal experience or exposure to living with a chronic health condition such as IBD, IBS, or inflammatory conditions.
- Experience with teaching, mentoring, or curriculum design
- Experience building and managing WordPress-based websites.
- Experience with video editing
- Can help us with social medial (primarily IG)
