Design Engineer

We are currently accepting applications for a Design Engineer to join our team as a Contractor to start! If we like what we see and you like what you see, after a trial period we'll make moves to welcome you onboard as a full time employee!

As a Design Engineer, you will ensure that our platforms and products deliver exceptional user experiences. We are a specialized group within the design team, constantly adapting to the evolving needs of our rapidly expanding company. In this role, you will need a combination of design and technical skills, driven by a passion for both.

Our team is focused on delivering impactful solutions to our most complex customer and internal tooling challenges. We achieve this by proactively identifying opportunities, pushing the boundaries of innovation, fostering collaborative design, implementing rapid development and testing, and advocating for pixel-perfect design.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Lead the design and development of our internal component library and overall front end architecture.
• Own pure front-end projects from concept to completion.
• Improve our foundational design system, building components, and testing them in production with customers.
• Supercharge our engineering and design efforts by building internal tools.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

• First Month: You will work closely with colleagues across design, product, and engineering to build context. Contributions will begin almost immediately through submission of your first set of pull requests to our front end component library. 
• Next 3 Months: You will be viewed as the primary leader of our component library and overall front end user experience. Relationships should be established with key colleagues and stakeholders. Excellent candidates will have taken at least 1 major front-end project from concept to live in production during this timeframe.
• Next 8 Months: You will have contributed heavily to significant improvements in our overall user experience and have put together a comprehensive execution plan for further improvements. Our long term product strategy should have your fingerprints all over it.

WHO YOU ARE:

• You have a passion for building user-centric digital products demonstrated in an exceptional portfolio.
• You have strong design fundamentals including inclusive design principles and accessibility compliance.
• You have 5+ years of experience with the modern web development ecosystem (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node, Tailwind etc.)
• You have experience working with APIs, SaaS tools, and microservices.
• You have experience with user-interface design and design systems and associated tooling (StoryBook)
• You have experience building high-fidelity prototypes with developer tools and/or design applications (Web, Figma, Framer, etc.)
• You have strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.
• You are knowledgeable of well-structured technical documentation and the ability to write documentation when needed.

Even Better:

• You have experience with motion and complex animation is a plus.
• You have experience working in the Bitcoin space
