What’s this position about?
Liquid Advertising is on the lookout for a strong Media Supervisor with a proven history of leading high performing teams. This role is ideal for those with a background in media planning, buying, or strategy who are looking to leverage their skills in a unique and engaging sector. Note that this position is centered around media strategy and buying, not content creation or creative tasks.

Key Responsibilities
Media Strategy: Leading the day-to-day media strategy process, from research and planning to execution and evaluation, ensuring that campaigns align with clients' objectives, are structured to properly articulate our approach and recommendations, and ensuring we will have a smooth approval and recommendation process. You are responsible for guiding the team through the process, maintaining a deep understanding of each stage, making collaborative decisions with both your managers and the team that you manage day-to-day.
Media Planning: Supervising and guiding Media Associates and Media Strategists in the development, execution, and optimization of media plans and strategies to achieve clients' objectives. You are providing direction to the team on how best to tackle day-to-day tasks and you are the arbiter of time management and project workflow.
Client Management: Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, providing strategic insights and recommendations, and ensuring their expectations are met and exceeded. You are one of the client's day-to-day contributors - they know and trust your work style and look to you for guidance.
Partner Management: Effectively manage relationships with media vendors, ensuring a smooth RFP process, timely responses, and favorable terms for the agency and clients. You are responsible for guiding the team through the vendor selection and negotiation process, maintaining strong relationships with vendors, and ensuring their performance meets clients' expectations.
Collaboration: Collaborating with other agency departments, such as creative, programmatic, and data teams, to develop campaign solutions that take advantage of each disciplines capabilities. You have a strong understanding of what each team needs to get the best solutions out the door for the client.
Staff Development: Troubleshooting and resolving any issues or challenges that arise during the media planning, buying, and activation processes, working closely with clients to ensure their satisfaction and maintain a strong working relationship. You have begun to develop a deep repository of troubleshooting skills and can mentor the team to find quick solutions.
Campaign Management: Establishing and monitoring performance metrics and benchmarks for media campaigns, providing clients with regular performance reports and actionable insights. You have a strong voice in the agency and share your insights proactively with the broader group. Proactively identifying opportunities for campaign improvement, presenting recommendations to clients, and ensuring timely implementation of changes. You are able to spot potential pitfalls before they happen and have a POV about how to approach each situation.
Budget Management: Managing budgets and financial aspects of media planning and buying, including invoicing, reconciliation, and timely payments to media vendors, while keeping clients informed about budget allocation and utilization. You know everything there is to know about your campaigns - who is on the plan, how much we are spending, topline performance, etc. You are able to quickly and concisely share this information with your Managers.
Communication: Ensuring clear and transparent communication between the agency and the client, addressing any concerns or misunderstandings and maintaining a strong partnership built on trust and mutual respect. You have strong written and verbal communication skills, you are able to quickly and clearly get information to those that are seeking it.
Industry Knowledge: Staying informed about industry trends, emerging platforms, and best practices, and sharing this knowledge with both the team and clients to foster innovation and growth. Day-to-day vendors should be looking to you for guidance on what they can improve within their RFPs to meet both our and the client's expectations.
Requirements
Your profile should demonstrate the following things:
- A solid track record as a supervisor focused on media strategy with between four and six years of experience.
- Natural inclination for curiosity, problem solving and passion for staying updated on emerging trends, platforms, and best practices in the media and gaming industries
- At least two years of experience managing associate- to strategist-level employees (management of experienced hires strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in audience and media research tools such as GWI, SimilarWeb, and Pathmatics (strongly preferred)

Leadership: A successful Media Supervisor possesses strong leadership skills, able to inspire, guide, and develop their team members while fostering a collaborative and positive work environment. You are starting to find your voice in the agency and understand different workstyles and how to manage them effectively.
Sound Decision Making: Media Supervisors need to make strategic decisions based on data, experience, and intuition. They should be confident and assertive in their decision-making while considering the input of their team. You are able to support your decisions with data to both your clients and managers.
Communication & Presentation Skills: A Media Supervisor must effectively convey ideas, insights, and recommendations to clients, vendors, and internal team members, both in writing and in person. You are becoming much more comfortable being "on the spot" and are always prepared to discuss the ongoing pieces of your campaigns.
Client Relationship Building: A great Media Supervisor is skilled at building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and managing their expectations. You are the go to for junior clients and can be a sounding board for all of their media questions.
Time Management: A successful Media Supervisor knows how to delegate tasks to their team members and manage their own time effectively to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. You don't simply pass work, you provide understanding of why the task is important and how it is important for their development.
Critical Thinking: Media Supervisors should be resourceful and adept at identifying and resolving challenges that may arise during the media planning, buying, and activation processes. You consistently have a plan of attack that you can quickly share with your managers and team and do not get flustered under pressure.
Mentorship & Coaching: A great Media Supervisor invests in the growth and development of their team members, providing guidance, feedback, and opportunities for skill-building. You understand that your best path to growth is growing the talent around you and you are deeply invested in the success of others. You make time to explain information in detail to your team answering questions and adapting to different workstyles. You have the emotional maturity to provide and take constructive criticism without feeling attacked or shutting down.
Benefits
Base salary for this role is $75,000-$100,000 for the location in which this role is based. Actual salary offered will be based on location and experience.
