Position Overview:

We are in search of a seasoned telecom industry professional to lead Utilities One's business development initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive connections and credibility within the telecommunications industry, serving as a thought leader and problem solver for clients and partners. The Director of Business Development should prioritize long-term partnerships and demonstrate strong operational acumen.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop business strategy, including yearly and quarterly sales targets.
  • Generate new Telecom, Wireless, and Engineering business opportunities to build a sales funnel to meet/exceed our annual sales targets.
  • Assist our VPs, Directors, and Program Managers in developing/expanding our current relationships with our clients by providing marketing/relationship development support.
  • Leverage existing relationships to gain introductions and referrals while continuously building a robust pipeline of new prospects.
  • Understand the technical aspects of Utilities One's core services and engage customers in a consultative approach by having a deep understanding of the work, our processes, and industry trends.
  • Negotiate contracts and close deals to drive revenue growth and expansion opportunities.
  • Prepare business cases for potential opportunities, including modeling.
  • Prepare regular reports and forecasts for senior management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activities and client interactions.
  • Conduct market research to analyze/target business and acquisition (asset) opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the business development team, implementing strategies to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and collaboration.
  • Drive thought leadership initiatives within the telecommunications industry, including speaking engagements at industry conferences.
  • Identify and evaluate potential strategic partnerships and alliances that can accelerate growth and expand market reach for Utilities One.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and regulatory changes, providing insights and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making and business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Self-starter with the ability to operate independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a business development or related role within the telecommunications industry.
  • Demonstrated telecom relationships at the highest levels and key decision-makers.
  • Strong proactive approach to identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10-20% to meet with clients and attend industry events.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to speak to anyone from a technical level to the C-suite.
