Full Job Description
The Field Engineer’s primary responsibility is providing support on projects and for the home office. The Field Engineer will work full-time at project sites approximately 75% of the year. When working at a project site, the Field Engineer will serve as a member of the project management team and will provide support by conducting various duties including planning and scheduling, project execution oversight, tooling management, safety and quality oversight, subcontract monitoring and controlling, and corporate and customer reporting. The Field Engineer will also spend time at the home office and will support the planning and estimating of future TEiC projects.
Requirements
When working at a project site:
- Assist project management team with creation of project plan and schedule.
- Monitor project activities and ensures that execution activities comply with established plan and schedule.
- Works as an interface with engineering to provide the project team direction and support in planning and troubleshooting issues as they arise. Provides guidance as needed to both project management members and craft employees.
- Ensures all necessary project documents and reports are completed and submitted to internal and external individuals.
- Communicates with customer contact at project site to ensure project and activities comply with customer expectations.
- Works to track project progress and earned value and reports out to client and TEiC leadership.
- Manages rigging and execution plan, while interacting with 3rd party and intercompany engineers.
- Develops change order estimates and communicates changes to client.
When working at the office:
- Supports operations department with proposal development, creation of project schedules, and project forecasting.
- Reviews engineering drawings and analyzes project impacts in support of operations department.
- Participates in wide assortment of project planning activities including corporate meetings, customer visits and interactions, and project team conference calls.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong decision-making skills and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills – ability to work with wide assortment of levels within the organization (project supervision, hourly employees, executive management.)
- Preferred experience with project management especially focused in full project life cycle.
- Willingness to travel and live/ work remotely from home for periods of up to 6 months
- Bilingual preferred
Education and Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- Experience: 0-2 years
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, Primavera P6 (preferred)
