Full Job Description

We are looking for OSP Permit Specialists in the Engineering Department to manage and coordinate all aspects of the permitting process for telecommunications infrastructure projects all around the US.

As a key member of our engineering department, the OSP Permit Specialist will contribute to our initiatives' success by permitting, overseeing the permit process, and facilitating efficient project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate and schedule permits to avoid project roadblocks;
  • Facilitate resolution of issues as they arise to keep the project on schedule;
  • Research and gather data to support project team scheduling requirements;
  • Serve as liaison with internal resources to ensure permit applications are submitted in order and on time to meet the project schedule;
  • Provide follow-up to pending issues to ensure completion of tasks – internal and external;
  • Coordinate with permitting agencies to organize applications, adjust as desired, and resolve any issues preventing or delaying the permitting process;
  • Develop plans including timelines, tasks, and schedules for permits from inception through issuance;
  • QC of plan sets, permit drafts, and pole sheets, along with the coordination of QC efforts as they pertain to permitting;
  • Identify and capture jurisdiction-specific requirements, applying this information to projects;
  • Monitor and track permit packages via online systems, email, or in person, as necessary, to meet local requirements;
  • Monitor project folders and effectively communicate the status of each permit;
  • Collaborate as part of a team to deliver fully permitted and constructed projects to our customers;
  • Manage joint-use attachments and pole permits through various portals, as needed by projects.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a permit specialist in the utilities industry;
  • Knowledge of utility regulations, codes, and standards, NESC, Municipal codes;
  • Knowledge Joint Use practices;
  • Proficiency in KMZ’s, Smartsheets, Excel;
  • Proficiency in using software tools for tracking, mapping and managing permits and project functions.
