Full Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Commercialization, the Packaging Engineering Manager - East Coast is responsible for the development of packaging materials by working with Project Teams and Vendors to recommend, review, test and identify costs for various projects. The position is responsible for creating detailed documentation of specifications and accurate bill of materials for successful commercialization of projects. The position supports Our Home’s manufacturing facilities by assisting in issues resolution and optimizing packaging design to ensure peak performance.
The Packaging Engineering Manager - East Coast manages a mix of low-to-high complexity commercial projects which require advanced packaging materials and technological expertise. As a key member of project teams, this role is expected to bring a broad-based perspective to advocate the best interests of packaging and the overall initiative via sharing of technical knowledge and experience, gathering and presenting fact-based data, providing robust analytics, and implementing effective and impactful solutions which deliver against project scope and expectations.
Experience within Consumer Packaged Goods within the snack foods industry required.
The successful candidate will be located in the Eastern U.S. and will demonstrate excellent communication and people skills, strong project leadership, and technical expertise.
Responsibilities, included but are not to limited to…
- Collaborate and lead with cross functional partners and commercialization teams to drive projects forward by researching and developing packaging solutions to balance the needs of manufacturing, marketing, our consumer and customer’s needs.
- Work with manufacturing facilities to research, develop, test and implement proposals for packaging design.
- Present design recommendations and drive alignment with key project stakeholders on packaging development direction.
- Understands the food packaging production process – both at the packaging supplier and at the manufacturer levels, focusing on flexible packaging (films) and corrugate.
- Understands the relationship between the package format, food processing method, manufacturing processes and product / packaging interaction. Determines impact on new packaging design to existing and new automation at manufacturing locations. Modify designs accordingly to optimize manufacturing and labor efficiencies. Recommend, select and execute packaging designs.

You have…
- BS in Packaging Engineering preferred or similar study preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of experience preferred of packaging development in a food manufacturing environment, ideally with snack foods
- Experience with vertical form/fill/seal packaging machines with case packaging automation, and on machine seasoning systems is preferred
- Knowledge of packaging materials and their properties and performance
- Knowledge of packaging industry standards and regulations
- People management experience (required)
- An enjoyment for working in a team environment with the ability to build strong relationships with business partners and lead projects
- Travel Requirement: Up to 25%
