What you'll be doing...
Kiplinger is looking for an editor to manage content around personal finance deals and products for the brand’s website. The eCommerce editor is an experienced and driven digital journalist who knows how to create great content that helps people make buying decisions. You will have knowledge and interest in personal finance topics including insurance, savings accounts, travel, credit cards, mortgages and more.
The editor can make and maintain evergreen coverage plans and follow news and trends to deliver information to our readers. An important element is the ability to manage the existing archive of core eCommerce articles, ensuring they are updated, SEO-optimized, and therefore ranking well for target terms. The eCommerce editor requires a talent for writing sharp, quality content, managing multiple audience strategies at once including SEO and social.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, along with team leadership, content plans around personal finance products, utilizing existing plans and building them out
- Manage a staff writer
- Commission, edit and write eCommerce-related content
- Assign stories based on seasonality and newsiness
- Edit 2-6 articles per day from staff and freelancers
- Write and update articles yourself as needed
- Work closely with other teams across the business to identify and execute affiliate opportunities
- Use Google Analytics, Looker Studio and other reporting tools to inform the development of eCommerce strategies
- Analyze and provide insight on eCommerce content performance for internal meetings and reporting
- Deliver against the Kiplinger eCommerce targets (traffic and revenue)
- Look for opportunities to develop and optimize eCommerce revenue
- Suggest opportunities for e-commerce content to be promoted in newsletters and contribute to contentas needed
- Oversee peak trading plans and work rotas
Experience that will put you ahead of the curve...
- At least 4+ years of experience, including experience in eComm/affiliate content
- Experience with personal finance topics including savings, credit cards, mortgages, insurance and more, and news awareness
- Understanding of SEO practices and a proactive approach to data-driven decisions
- Experience driving eCommerce growth
- Manage stakeholders, including team leadership and reporters, while working through content
- Some newsletter and/or social media experience a plus
