Position Summary
We are growing our team and seeking an entrepreneurial Major Gifts Director to join our Investment team. This position reports to the Vice President of Investment. In this newly-created position, the Major Gifts Director will be principally responsible for executing and managing a major gifts and planned giving program for donors. This includes identifying, cultivating, and soliciting individual non-event donations and securing planned giving commitments. This position is accountable for donor research, moves management, donor appreciation, database management, and all necessary actions to achieve revenue targets. As we are in the process of developing and launching a large capital campaign, the Major Gifts Director will also support the Vice President of Investment and team in executing that successfully. The Major Gifts Director will also work with the CEO and core leadership team to build and shape the philanthropic vision for Rewiring America
What you’ll do/Essential Job Functions:
- Qualify, develop, and maintain year-round relationships with an initial portfolio of 20-50 individual gift donors or prospects to grow immediate funding, long term funding, and planned gifts.
- Serve as the primary fundraiser along with the CEO and Vice President of Investment, building donor relationships through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activity.
- Grow annual revenue from individual donors through relationship-based fundraising and strategic moves management, with an emphasis on long-term stewardship and engagement.
- Provide regular updates to CEO/VP of Investment regarding Major Gift solicitations, moves management strategies, and requests for leadership engagement/stewardship
- Serve as the point of contact for all planned giving inquiries
- Work with the CEO and VP of Investment to develop unique giving opportunities in the context of current campaigns, and to identify any needed collateral
- Recruit and steward individual dollars by building year-round engagement activities to maximize revenue, build donor loyalty
- Collaborate with the Investment Coordinator and Senior Director of Investment Operations to implement prospect management strategies utilizing CRM

Core Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to the mission, vision, policies, and goals of Rewiring America.
- Nonprofit experience and successful track record in fundraising, with a proven track record of securing six- to nine-figure level investments from individuals.
- Experience designing and leading innovative campaigns and successful efforts in donor cultivation, engagement, and stewardship.
- Mastery of relationship-building skills with a wide range of diverse external constituencies, from small-dollar donors to high net worth individuals.
- Outstanding oral and written communications skills that demonstrate an ability to:
- Convey a compelling story about Rewiring’s mission and impact;
- Translate complex data and analysis into persuasive narratives;
- Communicate Rewiring’s strategies with accessible expertise.
- Seeks out and delivers timely and direct feedback that contributes to the ongoing development of oneself, team members, and a positive organizational culture.
- Highly collaborative work style with the ability to operate as a peer and thought partner to the Head of Investment, staff, and advisors.
- Leads with positivity and a belief in what is possible.
Preferred Qualifications::
- Direct experience working in the energy, environmental, residential finance or building infrastructure sector.
- Experience in a startup or campaign environment, with ability to quickly scale and build national programs.
- Experience representing a program externally to a diverse group of stakeholders, partners, and funders.
Benefits
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000 USD commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 160 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year (15 days during Presidential and Congressional elections). We have an office closure between Christmas and New Year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment. Regular, full-time employees and part-time employees are eligible to take up to sixteen weeks of parental leave, in all cases related to birth, adoption, or foster care starting from the first day of employment.
