At Skylight, our engineering team is small but mighty — our software powers an experience for millions of customers. We've built a healthy, bootstrapped, and profitable business, and are scaling our Engineering team to better support our growth, improve our technical infrastructure, and continue to expand the feature set for customers.
Skylight is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to support our Ecommerce team. You'll be instrumental in driving our ecommerce initiatives forward. You'll leverage your expertise to create seamless, high-converting user experiences across our digital touchpoints.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize high-performance, responsive web applications using React and Shopify's liquid templating language
- Implement and refine our ecommerce strategy, focusing on improving conversion rates for both sales and Plus subscriptions
- Collaborate on pricing strategies and implement A/B testing for merchandising
- Streamline subscription management and operations
- Automate marketing workflows to reduce engineering bottlenecks
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Design, QA, and backend developers
Requirements
- 5+ years frontend development with a proven track record of continuous improvement: Driving best practices in frontend development, focusing on code quality, scalability, and performance optimization
- Expert knowledge of modern JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS
- Strong experience with modern JavaScript Frameworks, React preferred
- Strong knowledge of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
- Proven track record of optimizing web performance and implementing best practices for SEO
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Preferred Qualification: Experience with frameworks like NextJS, Remix, Astro, or Gatsby
- Preferred Qualification: Experience with greenfield development, including the ability to make architectural decisions from the ground up, designing scalable and maintainable solutions
- Preferred Qualification: Experience with Shopify theme development and customization
- Preferred Qualification: Experience with ecommerce analytics and conversion rate optimization
