Phase2 is looking for a software developer with a strong understanding of all aspects of web development using the Sitecore suite of products to join our expanding Engineering team. A Senior Developer has mastered several technologies in addition to Sitecore which allows them to evaluate and select from new and known approaches to successfully implement projects of moderate complexity. They provide guidance on implementation to other members of their team, gather requirements from clients and can work with minimal technical oversight on many projects. A senior developer has successfully implemented projects of increasing complexity and has actively developed client communication and engagement skills. They understand the software development processes and are able to act as a team lead to successfully complete projects.
You will engage in a range of activities including designing solutions for clients and prospects, estimation, leading delivery team members, and hands on implementation. Candidates must have a deep understanding of Sitecore development best practices along with standard software architecture patterns, with a focus on Sitecore XM Cloud and JAMStack solutions.
This position reports to the Director, Engineering.
Responsibilities
Client Focused
- Implement projects with minimal technical oversight
- Perform business and functional requirements analysis and capture with clients and analysts
- Analyze existing implementations to extract business and functional requirements
- Perform analysis for new technology to determine appropriate usage
- Lead development teams through the development process to successfully deliver valuable features and projects
- Provide technical oversight to small teams of developers
- Ensure code and systems are developed with appropriate levels of quality
- Configure software and infrastructure to support deployment of implemented projects
- Design and implement subsystems of the software architecture
- Implement automation to support builds, deployments and code quality checks
- Estimate development time for subsystems and projects
- Create design and operational documentation for subsystems and projects
- Perform release management activities
Company Focused
- Recommend improvements to Phase2’s development and deployment practices
- Participate in the development of best practices and standards within the company
- Serve as proactive and efficient conduit for knowledge sharing across the company
People Focused
- Maintain managerial relationship with more junior members of the engineering team
- Assist with the career development of staff within the engineering team
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of industry experience with progressive increases in responsibility, with at least 2 years working with the Sitecore Experience Platform.
- Significant, demonstrated experience and expertise with the Sitecore Experience Platform including understanding and ability to design templates, fields, presentation layouts, renderings, SXA components, and other configuration, DevOps and deployment strategies, and how to integrate modern front-end JAMStack development practices into the Sitecore Experience Platform
- Demonstrates mastery in multiple technical areas
- Understands the operation and configuration of infrastructure components
- Proficient in multiple programming languages
- Proficient in a variety of debugging techniques
- Is comfortable on a Linux command-line and with git workflows
- Has lead the development of a subsystem or project of large and small scales
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and expertise in the following technologies:
- Sitecore XM Cloud, including Pages and Component builder
- Sitecore Experience Accelerator (SXA)
- Sitecore JavaScript Services (JSS)
- Sitecore Content Hub and DAM
- Sitecore Connect
- Experience with React and Next.JS frameworks
- Experience with Vercel hosting
- Strong understanding of modern CSS, JavaScript (ES6+), the DOM and DOM manipulation.
- Experience with Flexbox, CSS grid, and CSS variables preferred.
- Experience with designing, implementing, and debugging CI/CD processes, especially GitHub Actions and Azuere DevOps
- Experience with Container based Sitecore development
- Proficiency with the digital marketing capabilities of Sitecore including best practices for customization and implementation
- Proficient at writing and presentations with the ability to explain technical considerations, trade-offs and recommendations to both a technical and non-technical audience
- Experience in project and solution estimation and team structure definition
- Ability to identify areas for development efficiency and institute processes to support reuse
