Full Job Description
At Rive we're building a new category of design tool that transforms how products and games are built. With our real-time vector graphics engine we make it possible for designers to build functional graphics, without creative limits, while making it easy for devs to implement.
Since launching our public beta in 2021 we’ve seen tremendous organic growth. Our customers include major product and game companies like Duolingo and Figma. We're working with legendary game studios, massive brands, apps with millions of users, car companies, and we even have Rive pixels in space!
Rive is looking for an experienced User Interface Software Engineer to join our Engineering team with a focus on our Editor. We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating an engaging GUI. Ideally you've worked on complex, software products with the ability to create custom UI components when needed and an interest in learning and working in Dart/Flutter.
What you'll do
You'll join a small, dynamic team working on an exciting product. The editor is a key piece of the Rive ecosystem and you'll play an important role in driving new feature development as well as implementing quality of life improvements. This is a complex piece of software and you’ll have the opportunity to expand your reach and work across all of our runtimes.
- Develop new features in the Rive Editor that are sophisticated, maintainable and highly scalable.
- Build custom UI components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize software features based on user feedback and product roadmap.
- Work closely with designers to create visually appealing and intuitive cross platform user interfaces.
- Optimize application performance to ensure smooth and responsive user experiences.
- Coordinate work across multiple runtimes (e.g. iOS, Android, Web, ...)
Requirements
What you will bring
- A proven ability and passion to create amazing apps and user experiences.
- A strong affinity for design and UX with a portfolio or examples of relevant applications you've built.
- Proficiency in the Dart programming language and Flutter framework (or a willingness to learn and work in these technologies).
- Experience working on sophisticated, cross-platform UI components.
- Prior experience building multiple concurrent user, scalable, performant software. You are mindful of what you're building and it's impact on the overall product from code size, memory, performance...
- Strong understanding of professional consumer application development principles, including asynchronous programming and state management.
- Prior experience building custom components. You have experience with UX in big applications and don't shy away from building components from scratch when needed.
- Excellent communication skills as you will interface with clients.
- Enthusiasm to create a great animation authoring experience.
Location: Ideally located in the Bay area with the ability to work with our CTO and team in our Dogpatch office a few days a week. For the right candidate, U.S. based remote, with the ability to work core hours centered around Pacific time.
