Part-Time Academic Research Assistant (TA)

Position Type: Part-Time, Mon-Fri 9 AM - 12 PM

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our team at OASIS Ascent. As a part of our educational team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our residents in their academic endeavors within the residential treatment setting. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young men facing various challenges.

Responsibilities:

Administer standard and psychological tests and assessments to students, reporting results weekly to the treatment team.

Assist in the implementation of educational programs designed to meet the diverse needs of residents within OASIS

Provide one-on-one or small group academic support to residents, offering guidance and reinforcement in various subjects as needed.

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement, participation, and mutual respect among residents.

Monitor and document resident progress and behavior during educational activities, communicating observations to supervising teachers and relevant staff members.

Collaborate with the educational team to develop and adapt instructional strategies that address the unique learning styles and abilities of residents.

Assist in maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment, ensuring compliance with OASIS policies and procedures.

Serve as a positive role model for residents, demonstrating professionalism, patience, and empathy in all interactions.

Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development activities as required.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Education Coordinator or supervising teacher.

Requirements

• Prior experience working with adolescents in a mental health or residential treatment setting. (Preferred but not required)
• Able to pass all required background checks and drug screenings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of adolescent development and common mental health disorders.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
