Full Job Description
Provides carpentry services to build, repair, rebuild, remodel and maintain campus buildings, facilities and equipment.
This is a fulltime, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $22.89-28.61 per hour.
Core Responsibilities:
- Receives work assignments, plans and lays out work. procures materials, tools and equipment.
- Repairs and installs doors, flooring, ceilings, walls, windows, shades, and furniture as requested.
- Performs routine maintenance of household and office equipment/accessories, i.e. toilet paper holders, shower curtains, window shades and blinds.
- Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Middlebury College and department policies and procedures.
- Erects and dismantles various campus structures for special events such as, staging, commencement platform, etc.
- Cleans shop, tools and equipment daily at the end of work shift
- Performs associated Facilities Services maintenance work as requested, including but not limited to: snow removal, event set-up and clean up, truck loading and unloading and grounds maintenance.

Requirements
- High school diploma with previous carpentry and/or vocational training required; must be skilled in the use of various hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of carpentry methods and mathematics necessary; furnishes hand tools for carpentry work.
- Must provide own vehicle for transportation of self, tools and procuring small materials; Driver license with clean driving record required.
- Ability to work with other maintenance trades, accept direction from Supervisor, and work in a team environment.
- Must be able to work on ladders, staging, and lifts.
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Requires long periods of time standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, frequent bending, twisting, crouching and reaching overhead. Ability to work outside of normal work hours including some weekends to support campus operations; may require overtime.
