We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Bridge Engineer to join our growing Reston, VA Team.
We are currently expanding our design services to support client and project needs in the Structural/Transportation focus areas. The successful candidate will assist in the design of simple and complex fixed bridges, movable bridges, and perform bridge inspections as part of a highly technical group. Responsibilities
- Perform structural design and analysis tasks for projects including bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects under the oversight of a Senior Engineer
- Prepare detailed plans and construction documents for the assigned tasks
- Perform engineering calculations pertaining to, and in support of, the detailed plans and construction documents developed
- Develop contract specifications, contract bid documents, and technical report writing
- Occasionally perform bridge inspections and load ratings on local agency structures
Requirements
- BS in Civil Engineering (ABET-EAC Accredited Degree); Specialization in Structural Engineering (preferred)
- Virginia PE License preferred, or ability to obtain within two years
- A minimum of five years of Structural Engineering experience with a focus on bridge design (preferred)
- Experience in conceptual, preliminary, and final design and plan production of bridge projects following Federal, State, and Local Municipality codes
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD required, Microstation preferred)
- Experience with current FEM modeling software (preferred)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a design team
- Must be a highly motivated individual who is detail and goal-oriented, a self-starter, and proficient in both verbal and written communications
