Full Job Description
The Henrico Education Foundation (HEF) plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing high-quality programming for the students attending Henrico County Public Schools. We contribute towards the educational success and well-being of our community’s youth.
We are looking for a Director of Curriculum to prepare and coordinate Program curriculum and provide vendor coordination and scheduling for all Program sites.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops or oversees the development of the academic curriculum for HEF’s Afterschool programs, including:
- Develops math and literacy lessons for grades 1-5
- Oversees the development of the curriculum for math and literacy lessons for grades 6 – 12
- Creates and develops materials for lessons for grades 1-5; and 6-12 upon request from instructors
- Develops science lessons as needed
- Assists in the development of enrichment lessons for grades 1-12
- Provides leadership to HEF Afterschool staff with the development, organization, and delivery of academic content
- Collaborates with Program Officer of Academics to update weekly teaching schedules
- Works with external programming partners related to academics in order to meet school-specific academic needs
- Manages daily and monthly vendor communication, billing and scheduling
- Communicates weekly with vendors regarding attendance and programming needs
- Collaborates with tutoring vendors to provide effective services
- Processes vendor invoices two times/month
- Administers and reviews vendor surveys regarding program support and future programming requests
- Schedules vendors for all CLC and L&D sites at least 6 weeks in advance of new session starting
- Collects all necessary information for the Program Officers to deliver Partnership Agreements and MOUs to vendors
- Assists in the hiring and onboarding of part-time program staff, included but not limited to:
- Assisting with the implementation of the employee orientation for part-time afterschool teachers
- Assists in the interview process of part-time after school candidates
- Directly supervises academic and enrichment HEF Afterschool teaching staff to include approving timesheets, managing absences, scheduling, training, etc
- Plans and implements regular site visits for each school to observe effective teaching and facilitation and provide feedback and coaching regularly to the teachers and instructors
- Collaborates with Center Directors regarding teachers and enrichment instructors
- Collaborates with and participates in principal meetings, bi-annual meetings with HCPS
Requirements
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree
- Certified Professional Teaching License
- 3+ years of experience in teaching or in an educational environment
- Experience in curriculum development
- Experience in managing and coaching adults, ability to provide effective feedback and coaching
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Expertise in math or literacy
- Teaching and facilitation, classroom management
- Organizational skills
- Time management
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

- Salary Range: $56k - $62k
