Logistics Team Lead – Experienced in Truck Brokerage
Givens Logistics is looking to grow our Logistics team and is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced logistics professional with a proven track record working in truck brokerage. This person would supervise a team of Logistics Coordinators to work with existing key accounts as well as develop and grow new business. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are required.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of Logistics Coordinators and provide guidance and support to achieve individual, team, and company goals.
- Negotiate price with shippers and carriers.
- Oversee the planning and execution of transportation and distribution activities, including coordinating with customers and carriers, tracking shipments, and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Evaluate the performance of logistics coordinators and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Sell and close business with new and existing customers.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in logistics to implement innovative solutions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company procedures.
- Professional communication skills with customers and carriers.
- Maintain accurate shipment data and customer invoicing in the Transportation Management Software.
- Collaborate with internal teams and to ensure the customer requirements are met.
- Perform carrier recruitment and onboarding.
- Coordinate within department, account manager, collections department and other parties, as necessary.
- Ability to multi-task and handle a fast-paced environment.
- Conduct regular audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in other tasks, as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in logistics operations, preferably in a supervisory role.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics and truck brokerage.
- Minimum 1 year of management experience.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to support a fast-paced environment.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to handle conflict is a must for this position.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an office, administrative and customer service.
- Familiarity with logistics software and systems.
- Able to lead, train, and develop others.
- Experience with MS Office suite, specifically Excel and TMS is needed with the ability to work with the latest technologies.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Basic knowledge of accounting and invoicing.
