Full Job Description
Responsible for completing assigned tasks relating to maintenance and repair of the organization's facilities and properties. This associate must have reliable personal transportation and be able to travel daily to various locations within the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The associate will perform strenuous work on a regular basis and must be able to work occasional evenings and/or weekends, while also answering emergency calls as needed. This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under supervision, performs assigned maintenance tasks, which can involve plumbing, electrical, and general handyman tasks (ex. dry walling, painting, fixture repair and assembly, etc.)
- Assesses the need for supplies or tools and works with supervisor to purchase necessary items in a timely manner.
- Updates our computerized maintenance management system in a timely manner as assigned tasks are completed or issues arise that prevent completion.
- Tracks mileage and other reimbursable expenses and submits properly completed expense report at least once per month.
- Performs all assigned tasks in a safe, workmanlike manner, and in accordance with any local building code requirements.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clock in and out for work shifts and lunch on the company’s timekeeping system.
- Complete required monthly safety training and any other required training
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-3 years of previous experience in general carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC and other general maintenance activities.
- Must have own reliable transportation and valid “clear” driver’s license and be able to drive to any locations within the Goodwill market area.
- Able to manage time effectively, including prioritizing assignments to ensure that the most critical work orders are completed in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of previous experience in general carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC and other general maintenance activities.
- Experience performing maintenance tasks in Class A, B, and C buildings.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with supervisor to ensure safe and effective performance of assigned jobs and associated documentation of tasks.
